MaremmaCoastlines
The beautiful Maremma Grossetana offers approximately 170 kilometers of coastline in the southern part of Tuscany. Here, golden sandy beaches and secluded coves with crystal-clear waters alternate. The seabeds are home to a diverse marine life, so much so that they are protected by natural parks and marine reserves. Often, the strategic location of these dream beaches makes them perfect for water sports as well. Furthermore, every year, the coast of the Grosseto province earns numerous Blue Flags and Sails of Legambiente.
Silver Coast
Starting from the south, we find the magnificent Silver Coast, celebrated worldwide for its many dreamy coves, emerald sea, and for being one of the favorite destinations of celebrities.
This corner of paradise is characterized by smooth rocks and pebbles, a seabed teeming with life, and a beautiful sea.
From the seaside town of Porto Santo Stefano, ferries depart for the islands of Giglio and Giannutri, gems of the Tuscan Archipelago.
Giglio Island also became famous for the Costa Concordia shipwreck, whose wreck remained stranded near its shores for two and a half years.
Talamone and Orbetello
Along the coast, we find the Gulf of Talamone, a jewel that is part of the municipality of Orbetello. Its coves with rocky seabeds, occasionally interspersed with a sandy beach, are the perfect destination for diving, kitesurfing, and windsurfing enthusiasts. Orbetello is also renowned for its lagoon, a WWF oasis, where in the last months of the year, it's possible to admire hundreds of pink flamingos.
Maremma Natural Park
Beyond Talamone, we find ourselves on the coast of the Maremma Natural Park. The first beach we encounter is Cala di Forno, one of the most protected beaches in Italy, where it's easy to spot deer strolling undisturbed on the sand. A little further along, we come to Collelungo Beach and Marina di Alberese Beach, characterized by the presence of large logs bleached by the sun and sea, which make the environment that hosts them even more untamed.
Castiglione della Pescaia
Among the most popular tourist destinations is Castiglione della Pescaia, which combines the charm of the medieval village with the allure of the surrounding pine forests. Golden beaches, beach resorts, restaurants, and nightlife venues, along with shops and boutiques, make your vacation in Maremma comfortable and unique.
Cala Violina
Traveling up the coast, between Castiglione della Pescaia and Scarlino, certainly worth mentioning is Cala Violina. It's a dream beach with sand made of tiny grains of quartz. The cove gets its name from the melodious sound produced by footsteps on the beach: the sweet notes of a violin.
Torre Mozza
At the outskirts of Follonica, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, reed beds and dunes, Torre Mozza is a beach dominated by a 16th century fortress that gives it its name. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in Maremma Grossetana, as snorkeling and diving enthusiasts well know, particularly for the variety of fish that inhabit its clear seabed. Moreover, underwater there is a reef that many believe to be a part of the ancient Aurelia road.
